Northern High School, like our county, has grown by leaps and bounds. Our children are very familiar with "rush hour" at a young age now. In 1972 we were the first 8th grade class at the new, combined Northern Middle/High School. It was the second pair of public middle and high schools in the county since integration. Northern was an experiment in the new open space classrooms. They have since erected walls between classrooms. Calvert County now has 4 high schools (from north to south) - Northern, Huntingtown, Calvert & Patuxent. At the start of the 2004-2005 school year there are 6 middle schools - Windy Hill, Northern, Plum Point, Calvert, Southern & the newest, Mill Creek . If you haven't driven down route 2/4 in a while you are in for quite a surprise ... back to top
